Wide and squat bulbs of turban types are a unique shape. Plump cloves are sheathed in pink inside violet wrapped bulbs and cloves are plump with pink wrappers. Turban types mature nearly one month earlier than Silverskin types. Spicy heat with an earthy flavor. This variety was adapted from a selection made at a market in Bangkok, Thailand in the early 2000's. (only available in the Garlic Sampler)Hardneck Turban variety. Originally acquired at a market in the Thai capital, as a small white bulb with pale cloves but after a few seasons of adaptation became a large Turban with typical fat pink cloves inside violet wrapped bulbs. Spicy! Long, crescent-shaped purple-hued cloves are covered by purple-striped bulb wrappers that glow with sparkles of golden glaze. Outstanding, uniquely spicy flavor raw. Holds flavor well when baked. This is our favorite garlic on the farm here on account of its very large cloves that peel easily. Produces 4-8 large, easy to peel cloves per bulb. Raw Flavor is spicy and builds to a fiery intensity.  Baking and cooking mellows flavor to a nutty smoothness.
